Raphael Butler, heavyweight from Rochester, won his fight against Kerry Biles of Springfield MO by knockout in just 45 seconds on Saturday evening, March 8. With this win Butler’s record improves to 30-4.
According to www.minnesotaboxing.com, Butler’s long layoff (since October 18) was due to a broken hand. The same website reports that Butler’s next opponent will be the cagey veteran Otis Tisdale (25-19 with 15 kayos) at the big Graham Arena event in Rochester on April 26. After Tisdale, Butler’s camp would like to see him avenge his 2006 decision loss to Jason Gavern (now 13-4 with 7 kayos). Evidence of what a small world is boxing: Gavern is scheduled to face Arron Lyons on April 12, and yes, that is the same Arron Lyons who put the only blemish on Joey Abell’s 18-1 record.
