From the department of I’d Have Been Happier Not Knowing we learn that a tentatively planned show at Grand Casino Hinckley has been scratched.
Two unnamed sources had confirmed that a major out-of-town promoter was pencilled in to promote a show that would have been televised by ESPN2 on Friday July 23rd. Now comes word that the event will still take place on the same date and with the same headliner, but in a different venue.
Goossen Tutor Boxing was the promoter, and Beibut Shumenov’s first defense of his ill-gotten WBA light heavyweight title is the event. The place will be Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, California. The reason for the change? Well, for one thing it was never a done deal in Minnesota. And “they got a better deal out in California,” says a source.
Now if there’s no local show to fill the void that weekend, you’ll know what you’re missing.
