Word comes from Minnesota Boxing Boxing Hall of Fame president Jake Wegner that in order to accommodate a greater than expected demand for tickets, the Hall of Fame’s inaugural induction ceremony is being moved from Mancini’s in St Paul to Jax Cafe in NE Minneapolis.
If you know Jax Cafe, you know that it’s an awesome little restaurant and has been a fixture on University Ave in NE Mpls since the 1930s. What you may not know is that they have a big banquet hall upstairs (capacity 300).
The event is still scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, October 12th. Tickets are still available through Mr. Wegner and still cost $50. Wegner describes the menu thusly:
a very nice Grilled Pork Chop meal…char crusted, topped with crispy fried onions, served with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. It also comes with a salad, bread, coffee, and dessert. For anyone wanting a vegetarian dish, the option will be the Butternut Squash Raviloi, which I am told is top-notch. I would need to know ahead of time for anyone wanting a vegetarian dish.
